Lunations and Long Term Aspects This month the other and possibly better half of the lunar eclipse on New Years Eve (or Day, depending on where you live) arrives as its solar eclipse counterpart on January 15. These are members of the same Saros Series family, 12 North, which frequently has the effect of delivering additional responsibility your way, often because someone else is no longer able to do so. Solar eclipses tend to precipitate events that you had absolutely nothing to do with, but have been evolving through astrological space and time; there are no coincidences. Lunar eclipses, on the other hand, tend to operate more internally, often at the emotional level. These may motivate you to take action that brings about an event but solar eclipses are more likely to bring something your way courtesy of others. This eclipse takes place in your sign and will be particularly strong for those of you born within a few days of January 16. If that happens to be your birthday, it will be included in your Solar Return, so look forward to a very interesting and significant year. Those born under it will have it with them for their entire life. Capricorn is loaded with planets at this time, including Pluto, retrograde Mercury, the North Lunar Node, the Sun and Moon, and also Venus, who's conjunct the eclipse, providing implications involving love or money. Pluto, of course, is there for the long-haul, and RX Mercury is actually stationing during the eclipse, which means he is coming out of retrograde and ready to move forward again later that same day. If he's had you rethinking a few things the past three weeks, now it's time to put it all together and get ready to move forward accordingly. He is conjunct Pluto, indicating these potentially profound insights could relate to the past or things you weren't aware of previously. Furthermore, these two are also square retrograde Saturn, your Sign Ruler, who's in Libra, your 10th House of career, reputation, status, and public image. Retrograde Saturn frequently operates at the subconscious level which in this case will relate to your 10th House in some way. Remember that this includes your "status" which probably doesn't make a lot of sense since it's extremely vague. Think of your status as anything that involves how you're viewed by others. It also can involve those things such as titles and labels. For example, when you get married or divorced, buy property, graduate from school, obtain a driver's license, open a business, or receive a promotion (or get fired) this affects your status, thus making these types of events relevant and targets for consideration. Saturn is about structure, delays, authority, responsibility, obligation, and wisdom. Put these things together, including that Pluto/Mercury conjunction, and see what comes out. Since this may be on the subconscious level, you may simply be feeling restless and not know why. If you want a clue, think about these areas and see what you can come up with. By the time Saturn goes direct the end of May you should have a good idea what needs to be done. Neptune and Jupiter as well as the asteroid, Chiron, are in Aquarius, your 2nd House of finance, possessions, self-worth, needs, and pleasures. Jupiter is about to leave, so if there is anything you want to expand in this area, do so quickly because his departure will be on January 18. The North Lunar Node indicates something coming into your life. This will be strongest for those born within a few days of January 12. All in all, it looks as if there are some major changes coming your way, particularly since the North Node is tied into Uranus in your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and siblings via sextile, which usually denotes an opportunity. Uranus is the planet of the unexpected, surprises, rebellion, innovation and sudden change, implying that this will tie in with the North Node's message that something new is on the way. Mars is retrograde, also, and he's in Leo, your 8th House of transformations, sex, death, shared resources, other people's money and so forth. Mars likes to take care of unresolved issues, those things that were swept under the rug because you failed to take action when you should have. This is particularly likely if you tend to be passive aggressive or if Saturn is retrograde in your natal chart, which makes it more difficult for you to assume authority, even when you have every right to do so. Mars RX will further make his point with the Full Moon. The Full Moon on January 30 occurs in Leo and is conjunct Mars RX. A Full Moon typically marks a culmination or shift to a new phase. This is often on the mental, emotional, or psychological landscape, which could well be the case with this happening in your 8th House. On the other hand, it could also pertain to resolving something else, such as paying off a loan. If your birthday is roughly between December 29 - January 3, this is even more likely to bring about a course change of some description. This is further emphasized by the fact that retrograde Saturn is quincunx Jupiter, who by then is in Pisces, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, and siblings. A quincunx typically calls for an adjustment or change of course and Jupiter implies expansion, thus indicating that it's time to be thinking about ramping up your career or status in some way. Jupiter, in turn, is sextile Pluto, which makes it appear that cleaning up some issues from the past will provide the opportunities you need to progress. By this time, the planets are largely occupying Aquarius, your 2nd House of finances, possession, needs and pleasures, so it looks like a favorable time to give them a fair amount of thought. The Sun will highlight them in some way and Venus, who rules finances and relationships, is there as well, which should be a good thing. The asteroid, Chiron, is still there and conjunct Neptune, so be wary of any delusions in this area. Use that Plutonian energy in your 1st House to dig out the facts you need to get this part of your life on as solid ground as possible given all the economic challenges that are out there these days. Short Term Aspects January 4 - 5: Mercury retrograde is a time to rethink, reconsider, and review and if you haven't taken advantage of that energy due to being distracted by the holidays, today you should give careful consideration to anything that comes up and points to that as being an appropriate response on your part. Love or money are likely to be involved, so look at those areas of your life as well. If you have something you need to go back over with someone, this is an excellent time to do so. January 7 - 8: Give serious consideration to any unresolved issues that may be holding you back. It may not be easy to do, but freeing yourself from the drag instituted by such things will help you move forward more easily. You wouldn't try to make a cross-country trip with a flat tire, so look yourself in the eye in the mirror and promise to take care of business as required. This is likely to shift you in a new direction that will be very beneficial. January 11: If you have a presentation to make or something else to do where you need to look good, this is a very favorable day to do so. January 13: Your Sign Ruler, Saturn, goes retrograde today, starting that rumination process with regard to your career, reputation, status or public image. You may not recognize what it is for months but if you're feeling restless or discontented, this is probably the cause. A sudden, unconventional thought or perhaps unexpected event involving your neighbors or siblings brings the opportunity for you to shine in a very favorable way. January 15: New Moon/Solar Eclipse as described above. Mercury goes direct today, signaling that it's now time for moving forward with your fully developed and reworked ideas. January 18: Venus goes into Aquarius, your 2nd House of finances, possessions, needs and pleasures. This will last until February 12, so use this time to pamper yourself, work with your finances and budget, and pursue activities you enjoy. Jupiter also goes into Pisces today, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, short journeys, neighbors and siblings. This implies an expansion or further development in this part of your life which will last about a year, so take advantage of it. January 20: The Sun leaves your Sign for Aquarius, but this will further enhance those activities noted above related to your 2nd House. January 22 - 24: This is an excellent time to be thinking about your career, reputation, or anything you'd like to pursue that will enhance your status, which in turn will reflect back on your financial security, which is one of Cappie's primary needs. Take a close look at any personal transformations you know you should make and how they will relate to your career, reputation or status.
