If there's one sign that's the most likely to at least appear to have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) it has to be Gemini.  Ruled by speedy Mercury and hailing from the 3rd House of mental activity, ideas, neighbors and short journeys, these miniature human RAM chips absorb data like the proverbial sponge.

I kid you not.  These kids thrive on data of any description and if there's nothing new to ponder they'll find something.  If you think of most individuals' thought processes in terms of computer processor speeds, most of us are probably in the megahertz range; Geminis, on the other hand, are running in gigahertz.   Your challenge, therefore, as the parent of such a wonder, is to keep your child stimulated intellectually without giving yourself a brain hemorrhage.  These are the kids who can learn to read by the time their two and perform algebraic computations by second grade.  They love to learn and see it as a game.  As a logical Air Sign, their ability to synthesize information is also highly developed.  I don't know what percentage of PhD recipients are Geminis, but from my knothole, I've known more PhD's from this astrological persuasion than any other.

If you're a bit of an intellectual yourself, you can have a tremendous amount of fun with your little Twin.  There is little they won't enjoy as long as it's new.  Whatever you do, don't discourage them from learning.  If you burn out providing a steady flow of data for their mental consumption, then make sure you provide them with toys and games that will do the same.  However, bear in mind that most toys will become boring after about four minutes, max.  As they become old enough to do puzzles and play word games, Suduko and so forth, you can find some respite.  Expect questions galore; you will probably think that no child ever born asked "Why?" as many times per hour as your own.

Geminis are typically unemotional as far as it goes, but this will also depend on their ascendant and Moon Sign.  However, unless they have a Water Sign moon, for the most part they will be driven by logic.  This is not to say that they don't have emotions, only to point out that they will be more inclined to make their decisions with their head as opposed to their heart.  Yes, they will cry and be upset like any other child, but it's more likely to be out of boredom or frustration than emotional hurt.  For example, if you had a Cancer child and a Gemini child in the same room and both were crying, the little Crab would be bawling because someone looked at him funny while the little Twin would be wailing because he had nothing to do.  The worst thing you can do is underestimate how quickly these kids can learn.  They consume information at a rate that boggles the mind.

One of the things little Twins need to accept is the fact that not everyone is as quick and intelligent as they are, neither do they enjoy learning as a pastime.  This does not mean the other kids are dumb, only focused on different pursuits.  While a little Crab may become the teacher's pet for all those hugs he freely dishes out, the little Twin will become the teacher's pet because he or she takes credit for how quickly and easily s/he learns and how much s/he enjoys it.

The one problem you'll have with a Gemini child as they get old is keeping their interest on something.  They tend to be jacks of many trades and masters of none, so to speak.  If they've not found some pursuit that holds their interest or don't have an inborn passion for something, it will be difficult for them in school simply because they get bored easily.  While their ascendant or Moon Sign can help, generally speaking they will have a difficult time maintaining interest on something they find boring.  They will learn much quicker than other children and thus while the teacher plods along trying to instill the subject at hand to the non-Geminis in the room, those hailing from the 3rd House of data will be fidgeting, throwing spit wads, texting someone, or surfing on the iPhone.  In all likelihood they'll be doing these things even if they are interested because they're masters at multitasking.

Note also that Geminis are known for having two personalities.  This is probably because they absorb so much information that their brain splits or possibly the result when their processor goes into sleep mode.  Seriously, this is a Gemini trait.  What triggers or defines them is no doubt a function of other elements of their Natal Chart.  At the least they are very comfortable with two different personas.  For example, if your child is one of many whose parents are divorced, it's likely that s/he will be a different person for each parent.  While this will be the case with most children as they acclimate to different environments, a Gemini child could easily thrive on the stimulation of two homes, two schedules, two sets of rules, and so forth.  Even as adults Geminis are very comfortable with two careers, two homes, two jobs, etc.

For those born without a single driving interest regarding what they want to be when they grow up it behooves the parent to make sure that their little Twin is exposed to as many different career options as possible.  Scouting programs do an excellent job of this and if that is not available, make sure you child understands all the many things there are to learn.  Since what they're taught in school is going to be limited by the intelligence of the other children in the class, they are likely to be bored and not see the more interesting side of things that comes past the basics.  These kids need to jump right to the "good stuff" to keep their interest long enough to challenge them, then they'll back-track as necessary to learn what they need to so they fully understand.  Being slightly above their head is preferable to boredom.

What ever you do don't mistake their activity level for misbehavior.  If you keep them busy with things to learn and do, they'll have no interest in misbehaving, unless it's primary purpose is to learn something new.  Also make sure that your little Twin does not simply become addicted to computer games or TV because it provides the stimulation they need.  They may eventually become whizzes that know every possible question on Jeopardy, but it's not going to prepare them to be a productive citizen.  Encourage hobbies, participating in sports, reading, and educational games and both of you will probably survive just fine.
