Lunations and Long-term Aspects This is your month, Taurus, where most of you experience your birthday and therefore your Solar Return. Therefore, if this month's Full Moon opposes your natal Sun, which is the case if you were born within a day or so of May 7, it will be with you all year. Your sign ruler, Venus, also goes retrograde this month which you may notice as well. Venus retrograde has a strong bearing on your values and relationships along with what are typically interesting effects in the world around you. She stations retrograde on May 15, so if that happens to be your birthday, you will have that in your solar return for the entire year. Gemini, where this occurs, is your 2nd house of finances, income, comforts, needs, pleasures and values which is an important one for you since the 2nd house is the one Taurus occupies in the natural zodiac. All of you will want to observe what effect this has on this part of your life during the retrograde period and shadow period. The general effect to watch for will be the need to review and re-evaluate one or more things in this part of your life. Pay particular attention to any need for balance, such as working too much and relaxing too little or vice versa. This is also a time to consider whether your sources of income are appropriate, adequate, or causing more stress than they're worth. Venus rules your 6th house of work, so give some serious consideration to that as well. Mars just finished going retrograde in your 5th house of speculations so your portfolio may need some attention as well, which of course fits into your income. Relationships are a natural target of Venus retrograde periods as well, so note what may occur in that part of your life and consider what the message is. The Full Moon on May 5 is in Scorpio, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships. A Full Moon typically brings an ending, culmination or in some cases a shift to a new phase. This lunation may find you a bit more strong-willed than usual, particularly if you're a woman. If you're a man, you may encounter someone who meets that description. This is due to the fact that the Sun is conjunct Lilith, which is known for her strong, feminist traits. Jupiter is in Taurus as well and opposing the Moon which would further contribute to a large burst of self-confidence as well as a bit of extra good luck as this big boy contacts your natal Sun if your birthday is right around May 12 for the sake of this lunation. For the record, during this month he will contact your Sun at some point if your birthday is between May 10 - 16th. You should be able to recognize this by a nice boost in your energy and optimism which lasts for well over a week. Looking at the other aspects for the Full Moon there is a Triangle of Potential involving Mercury, Venus and Saturn which will relate to what action you may employ with regard to Venus retrograde, as noted above. Mercury in your 12th house of inspiration can provide some useful ideas and Saturn in Libra, your 6th house of work, can help you discern the situation there. Saturn is currently retrograde, something that occurs every year for several months. During this time making progress is typically stifled while the Universe tutors your subconscious with regard to something in that part of your life that needs to be restructured. Thus you can see there are multiple influences helping you currently with regard to your work and financial situation, whatever that may be. Another cycle to look for is one that involve Mars in fellow Earth Sign, Virgo, your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation. You may have found things in this part of your area stalled while Mars was retrograde and may not be moving entirely to your satisfaction until the shadow period is over in late June. Nonetheless, action in this part of your life is implied and it's going to involve some close examination of your philosophy of life and deeply held dreams. Uranus is in your 12th house of such things as well as inspiration, enlightenment, spirituality, institutions, seclusion, confinement, hidden enemies and self-undoing. I call this the woo-woo or angels and demons house for obvious reasons. It also includes the collective consciousness and your influence on the world. Uranus brings all sorts of surprises and is known for innovative flashes of insight which fits in very nicely with this particular house. Pluto is traversing your 9th house of higher learning, philosophy of life, religion, politics, legal matters, relocation, other cultures and long-distance travel where he will be pushing you to closely examine these areas and eliminate anything there which is no longer needed or working in your life. If you put these three planets and their messages together you come up with a situation where you may have a sudden flash of insight into one of your beliefs or expectations which ultimately results in new activity with regard to how you express yourself or some other 5th house element such as your creative endeavors, romantic interests or children. Of course you are always encouraged to use these energies in the way of your choosing, which is the point of astrology, to utilize its promptings in the best possible way. The New Moon on May 20 is in nextdoor neighboring sign, Gemini, and is also a solar eclipse, giving it additional punch. Note that this is also in your 2nd house of income and so forth, bringing even more emphasis to this part of your life. If your birthday is right around May 15th, give or take a day, this could bring something very significant your way, perhaps even a windfall given that Jupiter will be on your natal Sun at that time. Those of you born a few days before that should at least obtain news of some sort which may bring a change or shift with regard to your work ambitions. This is an excellent time to further define who and what you are and where you're headed. Whatever may come your way with regard to your finances, look out for someone or perhaps a group who immediately wants to lay claim to whatever this benefit may comprise. Also make sure that any goals you set as a result are realistic. For example, people who win the lotto are often broke again a year later because their expectations of how far that money will go are not in line with the real world. Conscious consideration and common sense will go a long way toward assuring any benefits last as long as possible. |
