Lunations and Long-term Aspects There is certainly a lot of activity going on in your sign this month including Venus stationing retrograde and a solar eclipse. If either of these events occurs conjunct your natal Sun you are highly likely to see something come from them. Venus goes retrograde on May 15 and will be on your natal Sun if you were born right around June 15. (Mars already did a number on you when he stationed retrograde in January and Saturn probably has your number, too. Just saying in case you wonder what is going on.) Venus retrograde typically relates to your values in some way. Remember that when she goes retrograde she becomes the Goddess of War as opposed to the love goddess, so this is a time when you are more likely to do what it takes to get what you want. Venus rules your 5th and 12th houses so they are likely to be involved in some way as well. Your 5th includes your ego definition, creativity, romance, children, entertainment and speculation and your 12th, the angels and demons house, includes spirituality, the collective consciousness, enlightenment, inspiration, institutions, seclusion, confinement, transcendence, hidden enemies and self-undoing. This is an excellent time to reinvent yourself, pursue something to expand your already astute mind, or simply take a much needed break and enjoy yourself for a change. More information on Venus retrograde can be found here. A long-term aspect to keep an eye on for a while is a square connecting Uranus and Pluto. Uranus signifies such things as surprises, disruptions, innovation, freedom, rebellion, breakthroughs and anything unexpected which are likely to show up in your 11th house of groups, goals, friends and organizations. Pluto is in Capricorn, your 8th house of transformations. This aspect is going to be in effect for a while and suggests you may be hanging on to something you need to release so that you can move forward. This could also be some sort of ongoing situation from your past over which you don't have as much control as you'd like and is draining your energy. Recognize that this is a time of transformation and letting go of the past so that you can explore new vistas and enjoy new pursuits. The Full Moon on May 5th is in Scorpio, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets so watch for an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase in this part of your life. The Sun is in Taurus, your 12th house of angels and demons as defined above, bringing emphasis to this part of your life. There are a couple of aspect patterns accompanying this lunation which are worth considering. One, which is known as a Triangle of Potential, comprises Venus, Mercury and Saturn. Venus, as previously noted, is in your 1st house. Mercury is in Aries, your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations and goals, suggesting news or information coming from this part of your life which offers an opportunity. Saturn in fellow Air Sign, Libra, your 5th house of ego definition, romance and such as defined above, is working at restructuring something in that part of your life and thus in cahoots with Venus as she goes retrograde. One way this could play out would be that an opportunity for you comes along in an organization but it conflicts with one of your creative endeavors or perhaps your children or a romance. The key to mitigating this conflict lies with Venus who will help you decide which you really need the most and is most beneficial. Another aspect pattern which as far as I know is unnamed comprises a closed loop between Uranus, Mars and Pluto. Uranus is in Aries, your house of groups and goals, where he may be stirring things up a bit. There may be a lot of disruptions or disturbances or perhaps you simply have a strong feeling or urge for freedom. Mars is in your 4th house of home environment, memories and endings where he just came out of retrograde and is still in the shadow period, meaning he is still slogging through whatever you need to redo or rework in this part of your life. This could ultimately lead to a change of direction, particularly given Uranus' influence. Pluto in Capricorn, your 8th house of transformations, death and regeneration, debt, shared resources, sex and intense experiences is conflicting with this needed change in some way, perhaps because you have something you need to eliminate from your life or let go of in order to progress. Give some thought to how all this fits together and what changes you need to work with in order to pursue your goals. The New Moon on May 20 is also a solar eclipse which will add significantly to the strength and duration of its influence which sometimes doesn't show up for several months. If your birthday is right around May 21 this will have a strong impact on your life since it will conjoin your natal Sun. The square to Neptune in your 10th may bring some sort of conflict your way, probably something related to your career or reputation. Neptune can be very inspiration but he can also blur your focus or even bring delusions, idealism or lack of reality. You are logical by nature so this could be an entirely new feeling which could also manifest as confusion. Jupiter and Mercury are in your 12th house, however, which can help the situation if you seek true inspiration and direction. Venus is retrograde at this time and still working with Saturn to restructure something related to your creative expression, ego or something in your 5th house. Mars and Pluto are also helping things along and by the time Mars comes out of his shadow period next month you are more likely to understand what this is all about. |
