Lunations and Long-Term Aspects This month Venus goes retrograde on May 15 in nextdoor neighboring sign, Gemini, your 12th house of angels and demons, so named because it contains such things as inspiration, enlightenment, transcendence, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing as well as the collective consciousness and your connection with the divine. Venus retrograde periods typically relate to what you value which is likely to be more specifically directed to this part of your life. Venus rules your natural 11th and 4th houses which brings your group interactions and home life into the mix as well. The easiest possible synthesis of these influences would entail something like starting a transcendental meditation group that meets in your home. It is an excellent time to consider your various priorities in life and whether the time allocated to them is in proper proportion to their value. In this day and age when it is often difficult to make ends meet it is easy to neglect the softer parts of your life where you ultimately derive the strength you need to cope. As a Water Sign you are deeply emotional and need to find comfort and strength at this level so if you've been neglecting that part of your life this will give you an opportunity to give it some thought. Also note that Venus last went retrograde between October - November 2010. There is some possibility that something that was going on in your life at that time will come back for an encore, particularly if you neglected to take care of it properly at that time. The Full Moon on May 5 is in fellow Water Sign, Scorpio. If your birthday is within a day or so of July 8 this lunation will form a triangle of potential with your natal Sun giving it stronger significance. Scorpio is your 5th house of ego definition, creative expression, children, romance, and speculation so look to that part of your life for an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase. The Sun at this time is in Taurus, your 11th house of groups, friends, organizations and goals, highlighting those parts of your life. Some of the implications with this combination relates to the situation where you may be spending too much time with friends or organizations and thus not leaving adequate "me" time for yourself. You can easily see how Venus' retrograde cycle in your 12th house of spirituality ties in here as well. There are two closed-loop aspect patterns with this lunation which lend further clues to what their message may be. One involves Mercury, Venus and Saturn in a configuration known as a triangle of potential. Venus is at the apex and therefore in a position to direct the opposing energies of the other two in a favorable way. Mercury is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Aries, your 10th house of career, reputation, status and public image suggesting thoughts and ideas related to that part of your life. Saturn, on the other hand, is in Libra, another Cardinal sign, and your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories and endings. Saturn in the 4th is a no-brainer for representing your responsibilities at home. Saturn is also retrograde, implying that something in this part of your life needs to be restructured in some manner. Thus, if you're giving certain thoughts to your career, it's apparent that they may need to be balanced with your home life. This is where Venus in your 12th of inspiration and enlightenment comes in to help you resolve the dilemma. Another closed loop comprises Uranus, Mars and Pluto. Mars is just out of retrograde himself and still in his shadow period until June 20 which is when he will have once more attained the zodiacal position he was in when he stationed retrograde back in January. Again there may be a correlation between something that occurred recently versus his previous RX period from December 2009 through early March 2010. This could be the recurrence of an idea or a situation with a sibling or neighbor. At any rate, Mars is currently grinding away in your 3rd house of such things and he is action oriented. Pluto in your polar house, Capricorn, is meanwhile doing some interesting work with your relationships. His forte is in eliminating those things you no longer need which in this case may be relationships. The implications so far are thus entertaining an idea to eliminate someone (in a lawful manner, of course) whom you no longer need in your life. However, the catch lies in the square between Pluto and Uranus in your 10th house of career and status. This suggests that someone close to you may be supportive of your idea, but the changes it will necessitate with your career create a problem of sorts which will require some adjustments. The New Moon on May 20 is in Gemini and also happens to be a solar eclipse, giving it additional strength and duration. Sometimes the effects of an eclipse don't show up for a year or even more, making them hard to trace. Not that once more this is in your 12th house of angels and demons. If you can't see the very strong emphasis in this part of your life yet rest assured that the Universe will over the next month or so. Jupiter and Mercury are conjunct in Taurus, your house of friends and goals. This implies a lot of action in this part of your life, be it mental or physical in nature. Venus is retrograde and influencing this part of your life and also pointing toward either your home life or perhaps the start of a new cycle of some description which will ultimate require some adjustments to either your time spent with groups or perhaps your goals, at least those which need the help of others to bring to fruition. Mars and Pluto are in a trine, connecting your thoughts or perhaps your siblings or neighbors, with whatever is going on with one or more close relationship. This implies that these two areas will be working together and even though they're in a trine which is generally a favorable aspect, given that Mars and Pluto have somewhat bad reputations, this could come out to be more challenging than you might think. For example, if you have siblings or neighbors who tend to intrude into your personal life and have a strong opinion about one of your relationships there is the possibility for some sort of confrontation. Remember this may not occur immediately, at least visibly, but could manifest sometime in the future. Thus pay attention to the general themes this month and then take note of whether they come back a few months from now. |
