The New Moon on October 4 is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Libra, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  Remember that status includes a plethora of things such as anything that could appear in the public record, in the newspaper or Facebook, for that matter.  Keep an eye out for something new to occur or appear in this part of your life, especially those of your born right around January 1 - 2.  You New Years babies have been sucked into a T-square that includes not only this lunation but that infamous Uranus - Pluto square, which you are probably already feeling while those of you with birthdays before or after that will not see quite as dramatic effects.  Nonetheless, you are in vicinity of these aspects which could be similar to simply being a few miles from the epicenter of an earthquake.  This T-square which includes you natal Sun is in all Cardinal Signs, the ones that like to take action.  That's you, isn't it, Cappy?  One who likes to be a leader, make decisions and move forward rather than sit around waiting for someone else to do something.  This aspect pattern implies a few obstacles and challenges, however, so it doesn't look as if the path ahead will be smooth. 

As a Cappy myself I know you can have a propensity for gloom and doom.  That is not necessarily what this looks like but whatever you're trying to accomplish may not proceed as quickly as you'd like at this time.  You probably have some goals, hopes and wishes you're trying to pursue, which is a pretty sure bet because it's not very often that a Cappy isn't moving toward something.  After all, if you look up "ambition" in the dictionary you will see a picture of a sea goat, eh?  Not really, but you get the idea.  Moss does not grow beneath our feet.  However, whatever you're pursuing is going to require a change of course.  The good news, however, is that this might be your own idea.  Opportunities to pursue something, perhaps by being rid of whatever has been holding you back, are there, even if they're going to require some extra effort.

Mars is finishing up his trek through Leo, your 8th house of transformations, things you suppress, sex, death and rebirth, debt and shared resources and gratefully will be gone in just under two weeks from the New Moon.  Mars in the 8th can predispose you to accidents and other problems so bidding him adieu from that placement is usually a good thing.  Furthermore for this lunation he's squaring Venus, ruler of your 5th of creativity, children, romance, ego definition, entertainment and speculation, which can definitely have a dampening effect on getting started on any new endeavors.  If you've had a new goal you wanted to pursue, you may have found your creativity wasn't cooperating. These two have been in lock-step since the last week of September which hasn't been helping, either.  This will improve by the time of the Full Moon but then a few other things are likely to get in the way instead.

The Full Moon on October 18 is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Aries, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  This is also a lunar eclipse, giving it even greater punch and longevity.  This lunation will create a T-square with your natal Sun if your birthday is right around January 16.  Mars has moved into fellow Earth Sign, Virgo, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, higher learning, long-distance travel, legal matters and relocation which could stir up some new goals in this part of your life.  However, he's opposing Neptune which is something you need to keep an eye on.  Neptune is in your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors which has positive and negative implications.  Neptune can bring insights, enlightenment, inspiration and vision but he can also be idealistic, unrealistic, delusional and unclear.  It isn't rocket science to recognize that your thoughts are what fuel your beliefs and all that other stuff in your 9th house as defined above.  Inspiration is good; delusion isn't.  So you're going to have to balance these two out with regular sanity checks unless you want to simply be chasing rainbows. 

And that's not the only caveat out there.  Not necessarily bad, but the light is yellow as opposed to green.  Venus is in your 12th house of visions, dreams, inspiration, enlightenment, spirituality, seclusion, confinement, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  This is actually pretty good for your creativity and status and the trine to Uranus suggests an unexpected new beginning as a result.  This could be what that change of direction related to your goals is all about.  Jupiter in your 7th house of relationships is trining Mercury which looks like more ideas and inspiration which may come your way through someone you know though it could also simply be a lot of news or information.  But here's the catch.  Mercury is stationing retrograde, which will occur officially on October 21.  This essentially calls a "time-out" and may involve s romantic interest or child or perhaps simply the influx of that new creative idea.

Mercury retrograde is frowned upon in modern times where these backstroke spells wreak havoc with electronics, communications, and mechanical devices.  However, it has a greater cosmic purpose.  You just need to know how to work with it and what to do to work with the energy as opposed to trying to take it on with a full frontal assault.  This is a time to rethink, reconsider, revise, edit and rework something which in your case is likely to be a close assessment of your goals as they relate to your status or career.  If you've changed your mind on your own this probably makes all sorts of sense.  However, if you have this imposed upon you then it's a different story and you may go into it kicking and screaming.  Whether or not you go into this mode gracefully doesn't matter the proverbial rat's ass to Mercury.  He's neutral by nature and doesn't much care.  Furthermore, he's a lot bigger than you and going to win.  He's going to be retrograde until November 9 and in shadow until November 28 so you may as well accept the fact you'll be reworking your plans or perhaps finishing up an old project during that time.
