Lunations and Long Term Aspects The New Moon this month is also a solar eclipse which is visible in parts of Northern Australia and various points in the South Pacific. If your birthday is right around September 14 the eclipse will sextile your natal Sun from your natural 3rd house which is likely to stimulate something in that venue which includes your thoughts, ideas, local travel, siblings and neighbors. As you may recall, eclipses are like lunations on steroids and will typically be much stronger and of longer duration. The eclipse degree can also remain "hot" for a significant amount of time and be triggered later by transit. This is particularly true when the eclipse transit chart interacts strongly with one of your charts whether it's natal, progressed, solar return or planet return. Your sign ruler, Mercury, has one of it's infamous retrograde spells this month and actually stations on November 6, election day in the USA, which could have interesting implications. This happened before in the 2000 election which certainly was a mess and thus doesn't set a very happy precedent. If your birthday is right around August 27 Mercury stations retrograde in Sagittarius, squaring your natal Sun, which may bring you a few matters to deal with as well. This is your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, new beginnings and endings (which of course precede new beginnings.) As always avoid buying anything during this time and if possible all the way through the shadow period which lasts until December 15. This applies primarily to items of an electronic or mechanical nature and can definitely cause some inconvenience for holiday shopping. Of course as a Virgo you may also have it all done before then, but if not then you probably need to stick to food or clothing as presents. Otherwise be sure to keep those receipts. I've been reading an excellent book called "The Yod Book" by Dutch astrologer Karen Hamaker-Zondag which has a comprehensive discussion on unaspected planets which has been worth about $1,000,000 in psychotherapy for yours-truly. This has heightened my attention toward them and there are three involved in this eclipse, Venus, Mars and Jupiter. Unaspected planets can be loose cannons, manifesting both extremes of their archetypal expression. These could thus also have a strong influence on you if your birthday is around September 12 (Venus), September 20 (Mars) or September 6 (Jupiter) because these renegade planets will aspect your natal Sun. Venus is in dignity in Libra in your 2nd house of income and possessions which is actually a favorable placement, but if she connects with your Sun it could cause some sort of annoyance. Mars is in Sagittarius, the same as Mercury when it stations, so expect some issues at home whether they come as increased contention or breakdowns and repairs, which Mercury will already be encouraging. Jupiter is in Gemini, your 10th house of career, public image and reputation, and since he's also retrograde this is likely to bring up ethics issues or some description. If you're trying to bring a dream into fruition an unexpected turn is likely that will set things back for a while. Mercury retrograde will probably come into play as well, giving that rethinking and redoing is part of his domain. Nonetheless, the tweaks are likely to improve the product over all and be to your benefit in the long run. The Full Moon on November 28 is a Lunar Eclipse and has a few interesting things going on there as well. Mercury and Neptune are unaspected, making these two wildcards and also sports not just one but two yods, a.k.a. "Fingers of God" or what I sometimes call the "Flying Fickle Finger of Fate." All of these can cause instability and all sorts of confusion. Neptune in Pisces can definitely contribute to confusion, delusions, and so forth in your polar sign which is your 7th house of relationships. Mercury is in Scorpio, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, and neighbors, and considering he's still in the shadow period recovering from retrograde it's likely you'll encounter some issues there as well. As far as the first yod is concerned, Saturn and Venus are conjunct in Scorpio at the eye, which is likely to indicate the focus of some fuss. This again is your 3rd house, defined above, so this may manifest in that house for you. This could relate to siblings or neighbors or simply on the mental plane, but it's likely to involve responsibility and/or money issues. At the base lies a sextile between the eclipsed Moon in fellow Mutable sign, Gemini, your 10th house of career, reputation and public image, and Uranus in Aries, your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and rebirth, debt and shared resources. Watch for some sort of issue or issues to arise involving these parts of your life that will necessitate some changes of course or some form of discomfort. The second yod involves some of the same planets except the eye for this one switches over to the Moon with some influence from Jupiter in the way of expansion, placing the focus on your career and reputation, perhaps your emotional involvement with your work or an issue that provokes feelings of some sort. The base includes the Saturn - Venus conjunction in Scorpio, your 3rd house of thoughts and such, giving this more mental energy, though it could also relate to something else in the 3rd such as local travel. The difference with this one is a partile (same degree) conjunction of Mars and Pluto in fellow Earth Sign, Capricorn, your 5th house of ego definition, children, romance, entertainment and speculation. Mars is exalted in Capricorn where his energy receives the discipline and boundaries necessary for success while Pluto suggests the possibility for resolving something from the past or perhaps a power issue of some sort, which is also very possible with these two planets in cahoots. This could be as simple as having to find a new daycare provider that complicates your commute to work, affecting your schedule there or any number of other things you can do the mix and match routine with to figure out how it will affect you. |
