Lunations and Long-term Aspects Big news this month, Libra, with your sign ruler, Venus, going into another one of her biannual retrograde cycles starting May 15. The last time she did this was in the October-November 2010 timeframe so think back to what was going on in your life at that time for possible clues what to watch for this time. It's possible you will see a few echoes this time, but not necessarily. This is going to take place in fellow Air sign, Gemini, which really puts this to your advantage, especially if your birthday is right around September 30 or October 17 given that she will station trining your natal Sun. Gemini is your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, other cultures, long-distance travel, relocation, politics, religion and your general philosophy of life. Venus retrograde is typically about values, particularly as they relate to love or money, which is going to tie in somehow with this house. Perhaps your view of your relationships or bank account will take an entirely new turn. Venus rules your Sun, making her more significant for you, and Taurus, your 8th house of transformations, shared resources, sex, death and regeneration, debt, and intense, life-changing experiences. Thus you can expect this retrograde cycle to have personal impact, perhaps to a considerable level, and also have a bearing on your outlook and attitude in some way. When Venus is retrograde she becomes the Warrior Goddess as opposed to the Love Goddess. This is when she will stand up and fight for what she believes in or needs. Think of this time as when she dons her armor and readies for battle in whatever area requires it as signified by the various houses under her influence. More information about her retrograde cycles can be found here. A long-term aspect to be aware of for the next several months involves a square between Uranus and Pluto. Squares are often difficult but they are also what motivate us to grow. Uranus is in Aries, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships. Uranus in this house is going to bring a variety of surprises your way with regard to those close to you including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, cliental, business professionals, competitors and open enemies. Uranus is the planet of the unexpected, rebellion, breakthroughs, freedom, innovation, disruptions, disturbances and upsets. Knowing how important relationships usually are to a Libra, this will be exciting at best and a real nuisance at worst, but it's going to last for a while so brace yourself. Now enter Pluto in fellow Cardinal sign, Capricorn, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots and endings. Your 4th house is at the bottom of your chart and represents midnight and thus metaphorically a new day. Thus, family could be involved or it could simply be a new beginning. Pluto's function as the zodiacal roto-rooter tends to eliminate those things from your life which you no longer need, whether on the physical, emotional, mental and financial level. He primarily wants you to get rid of anything holding you down and preventing you from moving forward, such as unresolved issues from the past. Therefore, these two planets have the potential to slap you upside the head with a variety of relationship issues which force you to consider anything you need to resolve. The Full Moon on May 5 is in nextdoor neighboring sign, Scorpio, your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, comforts and pleasures. Your most important possession is your body, which also fits in here with the implication of taking proper care of yourself. A Full Moon indicates an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase which will somehow relate to this part of your life. The Sun is in Taurus, your 8th house of transformations, shared resources, sex and so forth as described above as part of Venus' dominion. Thus, Venus RX and this lunation share some common ground. Thus, another reminder is appropriate to be good to yourself and make sure you're managing your stress level appropriately. There are two aspect patterns of note in this lunation which may lend further clues to what the message is for you. A triangle of potential comprising Venus, Mercury and Saturn is the first one with Venus in Gemini, as noted earlier, though at this time she is stationing but not quite retrograde. Let's just say at this point she is contemplating her armor. Mercury in Aries, your polar sign, is likely to bring you some news, data or information with respect to one of your relationships which is going to have a favorable affect on your beliefs or other 9th house matter as defined earlier. Maybe someone close to you will invite you to join them on a long journey or provides some interesting information that ties in with your beliefs in some way. Saturn is in your sign, where he is exalted, and thus operating in a more positive way than he can in others. In Libra his structure, discipline and rigid character blends with fairness and harmony, making him much more socially acceptable. Saturn is currently RX which means he is drawing up the plans to rebuild something which happens to be of a personal nature. You will have to balance this with whatever that news happens to be but by working it through Venus in your house of beliefs you can turn what may at first appear to be a sow's ear into a silk purse. Another closed loop aspect with this lunation involves that Uranus-Pluto square along with Mars in nextdoor neighboring sign, Virgo, your 12th house of angels and demons, so named because it comprises dreams, enlightenment, inspiration, transcendence, spirituality, the collective consciousness, institutions, seclusion, confinement, hidden enemies and self-undoing. Mars has just come out of retrograde in that house and is still in the shadow period while he does catch-up to the zodiacal degree where he went retrograde back in January. Now he is gathering up what he discovered during that time and moving toward a plan. This is going to bring about a few adjustments, especially as they may involve a relationship and perhaps being able to let something go based on new insights or inspiration. Thus taking action on whatever comes to light can put that Uranus-Pluto base to good use. The New Moon on May 20 is also a solar eclipse which adds considerable energy and duration to its influence which can last for months. Indeed, often by the time the results of an eclipse manifest it is long forgotten. This one occurs in Gemini, further adding a boatload of energy to complement Venus' retrograde efforts, all in the house which contains your philosophy of life. While Libras tend to be fair, this does not mean that they are always nice, even though they may try to appear that way on the surface. Rather they tend to be an "eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" type person if provoked, a variety of fairness that tends to remain hidden until circumstances warrant. This can especially come into play if they've been hurt by someone they love. Thus, IMHO, Libras should come with a warning label because on the surface you would never guess they have this in them until that seemingly mellow guy or gal turns into a snarling villain or harpy, as the case may be. So, if you happen to have been in this mode with regard to someone in your life, past or present, but probably past, you may find all this activity in your 9th house helps you see things a bit differently, albeit with the logic of Gemini which you share as a fellow Air sign. If your birthday is right around September 22 this will trine your natal Sun and give it even more energy which should ultimately manifest in a favorable manner. Nonetheless, that Pluto - Uranus square is still in effect, though by this time Mars is trining Pluto in your 12th house of spirituality and enlightenment which can further support your attitudes and beliefs. One thing to note, however, is that Neptune in Pisces, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets, is squaring this lunation. Neptune in Pisces is on steroids and while this can be quite inspirational, it can also be confusing, so if things on the job have seemed a bit foggy or out of focus lately this is likely the reason. This could also provoke delusions or misunderstandings and miscommunications there as well. Thus, for all the favorable results that have the potential to come from this eclipse, make sure that you maintain your Air sign logic with regard to your work and health. Things may not be as they seem and if this lunation brings some biggie your way it may create some challenges. Another possibility, given the houses and planets involved, it could also bring a trip overseas related to work which is less than convenient or conflicts with other areas of your life.
