Lunations and Long Term Aspects This month on May 15 Venus goes retrograde, something she hasn't done since October - November 2010. Think back to what was going on in your life back then and it just might resurface this next cycle. This is not a given but a possibility worth thinking about because if it constitutes a rerun there is probably a lesson in there somewhere. The retrograde cycle is going to take place in Gemini, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets. Venus calls our attention to those things we value which often relates to love or money. She also rules your natural 5th and 10th houses which may see some of the effects as well. To refresh your memory the 5th house comprises your ego definition, children, creative expression, romance, entertainment and speculative activities. The 10th includes your public image, reputation, career, and status. One possible thing to consider given the houses involved would be how you feel about your work, whether it is enjoyable and satisfying as well as if it is going in the right direction careerwise. If you feel stuck this would be a favorable time to give it deep consideration. If your birthday is right around January 14 Venus will station quincunx your natal Sun, thus making this a stronger influence for you and likely to bring about a change of direction of some description. More information about Venus retrograde can be found here. Also note as far as long term aspects are concerned that Uranus is squaring Pluto which is likely to stir things up a bit. Uranus is in your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, and endings and Pluto is in your 1st house, meaning you. The 4th includes new cycles and particularly when connected with Pluto this could mean breaking away from something in your past and beginning a new cycle. This won't necessarily be easy, given it's a square, but this is the aspect which nudges us along toward growth and progression. If your birthday is in late December this is likely to be stronger, so just be aware of what is going on. The Full Moon on May 5th is in Scorpio, your 11th house of groups, friends, organizations, hopes, wishes and goals. You may encounter an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase of something in that part of your life. If your birthday is within a day or so of January 7th this lunation may be significant. The Sun is in fellow Earth Sign, Taurus, and trining your natal Sun from your 5th house of creativity and so forth as defined above. This highlights this part of your life which with Jupiter in residence in that sign as well may even bring you some extra luck. There are a couple of interesting aspect patterns involved with this lunation worth mentioning. One involves Venus as she prepares to station retrograde, Mercury and your sign ruler, Saturn, retrograde in fellow Cardinal sign, Libra. Venus in your 6th house should actually be favorable, though when she goes retrograde she becomes the Goddess of War as opposed to the Goddess of Love. Thus, if you have been walked on in any manner in this part of your life you may be more inclined than usual to defend yourself. Given that Venus is at the apex of a triangle of potential this is likely to be a good thing. Mercury is in fellow Cardinal sign, Aries, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots and endings (which typically means the beginning of a new cycle). Mercury rules your 6th house of work putting some more emphasis on that part of your life and the sextile to Venus indicates the possibility of an opportunity, perhaps to work from home. Saturn is in Libra, your 10th house of career and so forth, another connection to this part of your life. Saturn is exalted in Libra, which makes his influence more positive than it can be in other signs. He is currently retrograde, which occurs for nearly half of every year, during which time his influence tends to relate to restructuring something in that part of your life. If your birthday is right around January 15 you are even more likely to encounter something that relates to home and career which you have to deal with though all Cappies will probably feel it in one way or another. The key here is Venus and her retrograde cycle which can help you set your priorities, define what you want and then take the necessary steps in a new direction which will bring you more satisfaction. Another closed loop aspect, this one without a name as far as I'm aware, connects Uranus in Aries, Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn. (Speaking of Pluto, if your birthday is right around December 31 he is currently on your natal Sun so if things are a bit intense right now, that is part of the reason.) Mars is in fellow Earth sign, Virgo, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, religion, politics, publication, philosophy of life, relocation, other cultures, long-distance travel and such where he has recently come out of retrograde and is currently still in the shadow period. Thus, he is not fully functional yet but still tromping through whatever it is in this part of your life which needs to be redone. There is likely to be a surprise or disruption of some sort on the home front or perhaps it's simply time to break free from something holding you back and move on. This is likely to relate to something in your past which is unresolved which Pluto is trying to help you resolve. The good news is that even though this may not be an easy time, this planetary triumvirate is trying to give you a push in a new direction as well. The involvement of Mars in the 9th could imply going back to school, a major move, or some other change in your 9th house. Given that there are similar themes with the other planets as well, this looks like a time when you can expect a few things to change. The New Moon on May 20 is a solar eclipse which also occurs in Gemini. This will thus bring further energy to that part of your life where Venus is already trying to help you out. With Jupiter and Mercury both in your house of creativity this could be an excellent time for a creative endeavor. Other possibilities involve communication with children and romantic partners or obtaining favorable news as far as any speculative ventures are concerned. These may even be significant enough to effect that change of direction alluded to earlier. One thing you need to be a bit cautious about is making sure you're seeing things as they really are. This works both ways, especially for a practical sign like Capricorn. You tend to be very practical and logical which is usually a good thing, but don't let this squelch anything that may have possibilities, even though they may seem a bit farfetched. Earth signs excel at bringing things into manifestation so listen to your heart as well as your head. |
