Lunations and Long Term Aspects

The Full Moon on March 8 is in fellow Earth Sign, Virgo, your 9th house of beliefs and expectations, higher education, legal matters, philosophy of life, religion, politics, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation.  If your birthday is right around January 9th this lunation puts you in an even more favorable position to review this part of your life in view of recent thoughts and interactions with people such as your siblings and neighbors.  These houses are about learning and integrating new knowledge into who and what you are.  All Cappies can access this influence but it will be strongest for those whose chart receives a direct hit.

The action from this lunation may come from unexpected family news or perhaps a sudden perception of the past that gets you all fired up.  On the positive side, there is a rather nice Grand Earth Trine with this lunation which will be in effect most of the month.  It comprises retrograde Mars in Virgo, Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Taurus in your 5th, 9th and 1st houses, respectively.  These are known as the "Life Houses" due to the fact they address parts of our life which contribute to how we express ourselves to the world.  Pluto has been in Capricorn for quite a while now and those of you with late December and early January birthdays are starting to get a glimpse of Pluto's transformational power.

Being a Christmas baby myself Pluto has left my Sun a while ago but continues to aspect other parts of my chart.  Let me tell you that "transformation" is a bit of an understatement.  All I can say is when all is said and done your entire life is likely to be changed, depending on which house your Sun resides in.  Pluto excavates in a deep and sometimes ruthless manner to uncover, expose and eliminate any sort of corruption.  Pluto is about power and the lengths people go to obtain and retain it as well.  Pluto in Capricorn is evident in all the government and corporate corruption being exposed as well as the tightening grip these entities are placing on their existing power.  If you are exercising "unrighteous dominion" on anyone you may be the target, or it may simply be an exercise in cleaning out the basement.  Pluto is like the refiner's fire and you will be a different person when it's over.

Other than that, for those who have already completed that journey to the Underworld or those who have not yet begun, Pluto's influence in our sign will still be felt but perhaps simply as an increased propensity to "cut the crap" and no longer tolerate that particular organic substance in whatever form it may take.  Jupiter in Taurus, your 5th house, can have a nice expansive effect on your creativity and ego definition as well as your children, romantic interests, entertainment and speculations.  Being a Fixed Sign Taurus is resistant to change so Jupiter is somewhat inhibited, but given that Venus is there, too, and in her dignity, this can bring good fortune to this part of your life and help your creativity or other 5th house matters to flourish.

Mars retrograde in Virgo, which constitutes your 9th house, is putting the brakes on something or calling for a re-do.  This house comprises higher learning, long-distance travel, other cultures, beliefs and expectations, philosophy of life, religion, politics and relocating somewhere reasonably far away.  Putting this trio together could look something like this.  Mars RX provides the impetus to examine something like your beliefs which brings about a personal transformation that ultimately permeates your ego or motivates you to express it in a creative manner.  This cycle could actually start at any of these places and proceed accordingly.  This is a time to be open-minded and evaluate what is going on around you and be willing to change your view of the world.

Also operating in this lunation is an aspect pattern known as a Triangle of Potential.  The first part comprises an opposition between Venus and Saturn.  Venus is in dignity in Taurus and Saturn in exaltation in Libra so these planets are well-placed, allowing them to express themselves in a favorable manner in spite of being in opposition.  Venus is in your 5th of ego definition, creativity, romance and so forth and Saturn is in your 10th house of career and reputation.  This suggests that your career or status is competing with your ego definition or perhaps creativity or need for some fun.  Cappies tend to be workaholics so maybe this is trying to tell you that you need a break.  The third component is Neptune, also in dignity in Pisces, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and siblings.  Since Neptune is in favorable aspect to Venus and Saturn the implication is that inspired thoughts or ideas may help you find a way to balance those other two areas.

The New Moon on March 22 is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Aries.  This is your 4th house of memories, home environment, cultural roots and endings.  If your birthday is right around December 24 this lunation will square your natal Sun and create a challenge of some sort.  The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Uranus are all in Aries, providing a lot of energy and undoubtedly some surprises.  Mercury is retrograde which implies that all this requires rethinking or reconsidering whatever you're currently involved with.  Neptune in your 3rd house of thoughts and ideas may be inspiring but can also be confusing or delusional.  Run any important decisions by a trusted friend as a sanity check.  It is probably best if they are an Earth or Air sign if you want a logical response.  :-)  Retrograde Mars in Virgo, your 9th house of beliefs, is opposing Neptune and suggesting you may need to re-do something as well.  Take a close look at any recent decisions which may not have been the best approach.  Neptune is trining Saturn in the 10th, suggesting enlightenment with regard to your career or status.  Saturn is also retrograde and designates restructuring.  In a nutshell, rethink, restructure and redo something.  If you don't know what that is then you're probably largely in the clear.
