Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month begins with a Lunar Eclipse on June 4, the companion eclipse to the solar version on May 20. While solar eclipses tend to precipitate events, its lunar counterpart tends to operate more on the emotional level. Both types can manifest for a much longer period than the typical lunation with events sometimes actually preceding the eclipse it self or extending for months afterward, which are obviously rather hard to track.

This one occurs in Sagittarius, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel. At this time the Sun is in fellow Air Sign, Gemini, highlighting your 9th house of higher learning, legal matters, beliefs and expectations, other cultures, long-distance travel, relocation, philosophy of life, politics and religion to name a few. There is thus likely to be something going on which affects both of these areas of your life, especially if your birthday is within a day or so of October 7. Mars is in Virgo forming a T-square with the eclipse system, throwing his energy in there as well. Virgo is your 12th house of dreams, spirituality, enlightenment, inspiration, confinement, seclusion, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing. Mars is just coming out of retrograde and is in his "shadow period" until June 20. This suggests that you are in the process of redoing or reworking something in this part of your life which will be complete or at least well on its way by that date. However, this won't be an easy endeavor, given that it's part of that T-square. Be especially careful that you aren't in the process of doing something which is self-defeating. Also watch your back as far as people are concerned who may want to undermine you, even if they act like your friend.

Venus, your sign ruler, is retrograde which turns her into the Goddess of War as opposed to her usual operation as the Goddess of Love. A week or so after the eclipse she will actually transit the face of the Sun which will be visible with the right equipment and show her as a small dot against the surface of the Sun. Venus is in Gemini and conjunct the Sun for the eclipse, also involving her very closely. This brings in your 9th house again, perhaps your belief system or some other element, which you will be ready to defend as necessary, particularly if you are under attack by Mars in your 12th. However, if Mars represents some self-defeating behavior then bear in mind that defending it is not in your best interest. As an Air Sign you are generally pretty logical, so think things through before picking up your sword.

Mercury is in Gemini, lending even more mental energy to your house of beliefs, and he is trining Saturn in your sign where he is exalted. If your birthday is within a day or so of October 16 you have Saturn transiting your natal Sun which is not always a very happy experience. Nonetheless, Saturn does operate slightly more favorably in your sign which will help a little. He's retrograde, a time when he works on your subconscious to rebuild or restructure something which in this case will be at the personal level. Mercury will bring in data to work with and Saturn will help you restructure your personal beliefs in a constructive manner. Libras tend to be very fair in their dealings with others but if they are offended, betrayed or generally pissed off that "fairness" can quickly turn to an "eye for an eye" type of approach. If this applies, make sure that burning that bridge is really in your best interest.

A long-term aspect which will be in effect until the end of the year is a square connecting Pluto and Uranus. Pluto, the zodiacal roto-rooter, is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Capricorn, your 4th house of home environment, memories, new beginnings and cultural roots. During this transit he will help you eliminate and/or transform anything in this part of your life which needs or deserves it. These influences will be the strongest when he aspects one of your natal planets, especially your Sun, which is the case currently for those of you with birthdays right around October 1st. This is another square which will create a T-square for those of you born around that date given that Uranus is opposing your natal Sun as well. Uranus is in your polar sign, Aries, which comprises your close relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, competitors, business partners, business professionals and so forth. Uranus is the planet of disruptions, disturbances, freedom, breakthroughs, technology, innovation, surprise events, sudden change and rebellion. You are thus likely to encounter a variety of these types of events and situations with those people. For those of you whose natal Sun isn't involved, you can still expect disturbances that relate to people close to you and your homelife or any new beginnings you're pursuing but they'll be on a less personal level.

The New Moon on June 19 is in fellow Air sign, Gemini, again, which is quite unusual. However, last month the New Moon occurred at 00:21 Gemini and this time it's at 28:43 Gemini, illustrating the Moon's 28 day cycle and the fact that the Sun moves approximately one zodiacal degree per day. Thus you get a second chance at starting something new in 9th house of beliefs and so forth, which may come in handy, depending on how that eclipse worked out for you. By now Venus is in full battle regalia and quincunx Pluto in your 4th house of home environment and new beginnings. A quincunx denotes a change of direction or adjustment, which will come about as a result of you defending your beliefs. This may send some reverberations through your relationships at home and abroad. Whether than is a good thing or bad thing is largely up to you and how you handle it.

The lunation itself is trining Neptune in Pisces, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets. Neptune, king of the deep, is ruler of Pisces and thus very comfortable and powerful in that sign. This can be very inspirational with this aspect suggesting that someone at work may inspire you with regard to handle that relationship situation. However, Jupiter is squaring Neptune which throws a caution flag to make sure you have your facts straight since Neptune may be very intuitive but can also be delusional, idealistic or simply lost in space. On the other hand, the advice may be perfectly sound and simply clash with your current set of beliefs. Either way, give it sufficient thought to not do anything foolish.

Mercury is in Cancer, your 10th house of career and reputation, and squaring Saturn in Libra. If your birthday is right around October 15 this will have more impact.  This suggests that news or thoughts relative to your career or status may cause a bit of a crisis that necessitates some major restructuring of your life. This news could also activate that self-defeating behavior or perhaps stir things up with anyone trying to undermine you, though when all is said and done you should be able to work things around to your favor, even though it will take some effort to do so.
