Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month there are three lunations to address, the first of which is a New Moon/Solar Eclipse on July 1st. We had a solar and lunar eclipse last month as well but this one will be the last one until the November/December timeframe. Its path is a relatively small loop in the ocean directly south of Africa and north of Antarctica. The January and June solar eclipses traced across Europe and Asia, thus delivering their effects to areas below that geographically, which haven't been too difficult to identify if you pay any attention to the news. Thus, this one may be a bit more benign since it occurs in such an isolated area. However, it may affect you personally, particularly if it hits a sensitive area of your natal, progressed or solar return chart. This eclipse occurs in Cancer, your 12th House of spiritual connections, enlightenment, inspiration, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing. The Sun/Moon pair is holding down the corner of a Grand Square, a typically difficult aspect pattern which won't hit you quite as hard as others since the planets' aspects to your Sun are less harsh. First of all, however, give some thought to what might be coming your way from your 12th house. This is the house of angels and demons where we find inspiration as well as those self-defeating behaviors you may exhibit from time to time. A Solar Eclipse typically brings something new your way which manifests as events and situations. While the garden variety new or full Moon will also trigger various events they are seldom as dramatic or potentially life-changing as those brought on by an eclipse. The effects of an eclipse can linger for quite a while and may not be immediately noticeable; in some cases something eclipse-related will even show up prior to the eclipse! If your birthday is within a day of August 2nd the eclipse will form a semi-sextile with your Natal Sun. This aspect can bring an irritation or sometimes an opportunity that will require a significant amount of effort on your part to bring to fruition. Coming from your 12th house this could be as simple as a nudge from the Universe to give up a bad habit. Another corner of the Grand Square is occupied by Saturn who's currently in Libra, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and siblings. Saturn recently came out of retrograde, a period when your subconscious will be ruminating on something you need to restructure. Now that he's gone direct it's time to take action on this matter, but the square to the eclipse may be holding you back. For example, one of Leos' most common faults is an excess of pride, which may be keeping you from dealing with an issue with a sibling or neighbor. You may also have a good idea you need to pursue but are lacking motivation. The third corner is held down by Pluto in Capricorn, your 6th house of work, service and pets. Pluto, the zodiacal roto-rooter, flushes out those things that have been festering beneath the surface and need to be purged. He can also represent power trips, either your own or someone else's directed toward you. His square to Saturn yields another hint of what may be holding you back, either reluctance to give up or confront something or someone. Last but far from least and certainly not the most subtle is Uranus who's got a firm grip on that fourth corner in Aries, your 9th House of higher learning, legal matters, other cultures, beliefs, expectations, religion, politics and long-distance travel, particularly to unfamiliar places. Uranus is famous for disruptions, disturbances, rebellion, surprises, and breaking free from restrictions. You may be encountering all sorts of unexpected events and situations in this part of your life or perhaps there is something there from which you want to be free. Of course the opposition to Saturn which is already antithetical to Uranus given that he represents structure, responsibility, boundaries and restrictions is holding you back, perhaps due to negative thoughts or some concept which was drummed into you at a young age; something that needs to be restructured now that you're older and wiser so you can explore new territory, though the square to Pluto comes into play as well. Thus, take the message from each of these planets and think about how they are showing up in your life. The good news is that both Saturn and Uranus are in favorable aspect to your Sun, depending on your birth date. For Saturn this would be within a day of August 3rd in which case you can definitely watch for an opportunity to come your way to develop that new thought, idea or interaction with a sibling or neighbor. For Uranus the date would be July 28, in which case you should watch for a favorable situation or unexpected event related to your 9th house as defined above. Mercury is stimulating your spiritual perceptions and cooperating with Neptune in your 8th House of transformation to bring about a major revelation which will change your current course. Taking action on a goal related to work is also favored. The Full Moon on July 15 is in Capricorn, your 6th house of work, service and pets. Watch for something in this part of your life to culminate or shift to a new phase. This, of course, fits in well with the eclipse since this house was involved with that as well. Networking or pursuing a goal is favored through communications while expanding your career aspirations can be enhanced by dealing with that power or unresolved issue at work. The New Moon on July 30 is in your Sign and will be particularly noticeable if your birthday is within a day or so of July 31. Not only will the effects cover the next month but the entire year if it's part of your Solar Return. Its aspects are friendlier than those found in the previous lunations and should bring some positive progress with regard to that 9th house issue and Uranus' message. His square to Pluto is still in effect, but progress can definitely be made. Nonetheless, career expansion or something that relates to your status or public image may encounter some challenges; be particularly conscious of the consequences if you're too proud or stubborn. Pluto in your house of work is trying to get you to change your course which news or information related to your finances or income should help to promote. |
