Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The first thing you need to note about this month is that Mercury is going to be retrograde again for the majority of the month.  As you probably already know, this is NOT the time to buy anything electronic or mechanical, which you may be doing as part of any back-to-school preparations.  Considering that Mercury slows down before he actually goes into reverse, even the first few days are questionable and after that, the shadow period lasts until September 10, making it best to wait until then, if at all possible, before buying anything that fits that description.  If your car dies, you'd really be better off renting one; if your washer or dryer dies, do to the laundromat.  Last year my fridge died during a Mercury RX period and I lived out of an ice chest for over two weeks.  A few days after he went direct I bought a new one and while it basically works, it sounds as if it's haunted and things like the freezer handle have a propensity to fall off every now and then.  So consider yourself warned.

The Full Moon this month is in your polar sign, Aquarius, which represents your 7th house of close relationships.  This includes your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners and professionals with whom you interact on a one-on-one basis.  Watch for a culmination, ending or change of phase that relates to this part of your life.  Another area to watch is your job and career where there are probably some good things going on.  Jupiter is transiting your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status which should bring luck and expansion to this part of your life.  In the end of the month he goes retrograde which will further emphasize this part of your life but with a spin that accentuates ethical issues or your philosophy of life.  For the Full Moon he is trining Pluto who is in your 6th house of work, health and pets, tying these two parts of your life together in a favorable way.  Pluto implies a total renovation of your work life or perhaps even arising from the ashes like a Phoenix.  Maybe this part of your life has been a total train wreck but is about to rejuvenate or take you in an entirely different direction.

There are a few challenges associated with this lunation to watch out for as well.  Old issues from the past could arise that could cause a problem.  If you have any hidden enemies, one could try to undermine you.  If you have any self-defeating behaviors, keep them in check as well.  You may need to break free from an old belief to make this happen or perhaps an unexpected event or situation will bring a disturbance or disruption your way that affects this part of your life.  So, while things looks generally favorable in the career/job area, you may still encounter some matters to deal with in this area which represent a challenge.  Nonetheless with the Sun, Venus and Mercury in your sign you can expect some cosmic help in working them through.  This is also your solar return season when the Sun passes the position it holds on your natal chart and starts a new cycle.  If you're curious what the next year may hold, consider one of our Solar Return Reports from our shopping area.

The New Moon on August 28 is in Virgo, your 2nd house of finances, income, possessions, needs and pleasures so look for something new in this part of your life as well.  This lunation has numerous friendly aspects which I'm sure are quite welcome.  That change or disruption that came along with the Full Moon will effect a change of course, but this should work to your advantage.  Jupiter in your house of career, reputation and status is in favorable aspect to the New Moon as well as Venus, implying your financial situation or income is likely to improve as a new job or work assignment comes your way.  This is likely to be a time of significant transition, but not in a bad way, at least in the long haul.  Again you need to keep an eye on any self-defeating behaviors or subversive behavior from someone you thought you could trust, perhaps a sibling or neighbor, though your own thoughts could work against you as well.  There may also be a conflict due to a legal matter or perhaps it's simply time to break away from an old belief system.  For example, you may be offered a new position but doubt your ability to perform the responsibilities.  With so many favorable aspects pointing toward positive change, getting this atypical Leo confidence crisis under control is definitely in your best interest.
