January 2007 Forecast

Key Events:

Full Moon 1/03/2007

New Moon 1/18/2007

Cappies start out the month and New Year in a very positive light.  The Sun is in your sign, you've either recently had or are about to have your Solar Return, communications should be clear thanks to Mercury, who's also in your sign, and Venus is still enhancing your self-image, possibly even excusing those extra pounds you put on during the holidays.  In fact, you could probably attribute some of that weight gain to Venus' propensity to push us toward the more pleasurable side of life which includes plenty of good food this time of year with significantly fewer options for exercise, at least outdoors.

On January 4th Venus will move into Aquarius, your Natural 2nd House, which governs your possessions and other pleasantries.  This could incline your toward more indulgences of a hedonistic nature, make those after-Christmas sales a little too appealing or simply bring out a bit of laziness, which is something Cappies seldom condone much less practice.  Just be aware those temptations are coming from the Goddess of Love and resist as much as you can.  On the 28th she'll move into Pisces, which should take the edge off your natural sarcasm and temper your thoughts with more tolerance than usual.  You'll be able to express yourself in an affable way that will be viewed favorably by those around you.

The Full Moon on the 3rd is in your Polar Sign, Cancer, which also represents your natural 7th House of relationships.  If your birthday falls the last few days of December of the first week of January, this will be keenly felt, more than likely in your relationships or any partnerships, business or otherwise.  If you birthday is January 3rd, these effects could last all year as it will hit your Solar Return chart.

The New Moon on the 18th is in Capricorn and will definitely be felt by those with birthdays between January 14-24 with those born on the 19th probably seeing the effects all year.  This will affect and possibly motivate any personal changes you've been considering or give additional impetus for you to assert yourself enough to obtain something you've wanted for quite a while.  People will notice you more and opportunities are likely to come along as well so keep your eyes open.

Saturn, your ruling planet, is still retrograde in your Natural 8th House, which encompasses sex, shared resources, and personal transformations.  Rest assured that your subconscious is busy ruminating like a typical goat on something relative to one of those areas.  This will continue until around April 20 when you might experience one of those Aha! moments and know what's been bugging you the past month or so.  By the end of July you'll have it well in hand and be ready to move on, slightly older but quite a bit wiser.

One of the long-term effects Cappies can expect from transiting outer planets, in this case Uranus in your Natural 3rd House of mental activity, includes an increased interest and propensity for technology.  Unique ideas will flourish and you might even find yourself a little more rebellious than usual against what us Baby Boomers used to refer to as "The Establishment."

Other ongoing influences for the next year or more also include Jupiter and Pluto, who will reside in your Natural 12th House, which rules your subconscious and experiences of a metaphysical nature.  Jupiter generally expands whatever it touches whereas Pluto tends to be a bit darker.  If you have any monsters lurking in your past that require flushing out this will most likely occur during this time.  You also may be slightly more inclined than usual toward substance abuse and have a heightened curiosity for altered states of consciousness.  Fortunately, as a rule Cappies and other Earth Signs handle these types of inclinations in a practical, common sense manner, but awareness of what's causing it usually helps us deal with it in a sensible manner.

In summary, the new year starts out on a path that looks a lot like some significant personal growth will occur in this and the coming months.  Most Cappies will undoubtedly moan and groan about that since we tend to be "the cup is half empty" types and personal growth usually sounds painful.  However, there is also the possibility that it will open new horizons that will actually improve our outlook on life and not necessarily be unpleasant.  Keep an open mind and you may be surprised what you discover.
