NEW MOON 

This month things are back to "normal" with one New Moon and one Full Moon, thank heavens, given that wreaked regular havoc with the layout of this webpage. I'd much rather spend my time looking at the astrological influences coming our way this month than messing with formatting. So, while the astrological New Year began when the Sun went into Aries, this is technically the first New Moon since, on 15 April, a date infamous in the USA since that is when tax returns are due. The lunation is rather close to Uranus, suggesting that his disruptive, rebellious, freedom-loving, and innovative energy will be thrown in there as well. Mercury stations the same day, but approximately 16 hours earlier. These two influences are likely to be subtle, but there, and since it's Tax Day in the USA, no telling what it might do as far as the Internal Revenue Service is concerned in processing them, considering there have been a few changes. Hopefully, they'll be in your favor.

The lunation is in a somewhat wide square to Pluto in Capricorn, which implies that some of those surprises could relate to hidden information that could come out at that time. Pluto is a the cosmic version of Roto-Rooter, so no telling, since there's certainly a target-rich environment out there these days for corruption and other crap to come out. That, of course, is in a figurative sense. Those of you like myself on a septic tank system may encounter a more literal surprise; I have my fingers crossed that won't be the case. Capricorn is stocked with all three malefics these days with Mars and Saturn accompanying Pluto. Venus in dignity in Taurus is trining them, however, which will hopefully tempter them in a positive way, but with Taurus an Earth sign, no telling. Besides, while trines generally have a good reputation as positive, actually all they mean is an easy energy exchange, which may not be favorable. The love goddess's opposition to Jupiter in Scorpio will inflate and expand whatever occurs, which causes me to cross me fingers even harder. Jupiter is sextile Pluto, so Venus, Pluto, and Jupiter are in a closed loop known as a Triangle of Potential, with Pluto at the apex, so this has all sorts of potential as well. With Venus involved, this could also indicate some previously unknown information coming out about someone you know well. Secrets are seldom a pleasant surprise, unless they happen to be related to huge sums of money stashed away that you now get to share.

Mars and Neptune are sextile as well, which in the positive spin suggests taking deliberate and planned action toward one of your dreams. On the other hand, it could provide what appears to be an opportunity to chase something that is a figurative rainbow. If you've ever tried to chase one, then you know what I mean. On the positive side, Mars is exalted over there in Capricorn where his drive combines with discipline, so the odds are in your favor that you'll be able to tell whether or not your goal is realistic. Dreams are worth pursuing, given that part of you dies with them if you don't. So now that Mercury is getting on the right track again, start planning how you'll get there.

FULL MOON

The Full Moon on 29 April is in Scorpio and forming a partile (each in the same degree of its respective sign) Triangle of Potential with Saturn. This bring a nice push toward taking some endeavor to the next level, though Saturn is retrograde, which implies delays. Often Saturn retrograde, which internalizes the energy, sets your subconscious to ruminating on something that needs to be restructured. Thus, if there is something you want to move forward, there is likely something that needs to be done that heretofore you have missed. This is not something that comes to mind overnight, but will be in effect until September, at which time you'll probably figure out what it is and what needs to be done. In most cases, once the issue is identified, it can be resolved by the time Saturn comes out of shadow, which will be mid-December, just in time for the holidays and a new year.

Other aspects in this lunation include a square between Mercury and Saturn. This implies that finding the information you need, particularly as it applies to the above matter, is going to be a challenge, perhaps due to your own impatience. Some things cannot be rushed, so bear in mind that this is one of them, especially given the suggested timing due to Saturn's involvement. Neptune and Jupiter are trine, which can bring some inspiration your way, which should help as well. Jupiter and Pluto have been in a long-term sextile, which should bring some hidden information your way or help with any research. Pluto and Mars are conjunct, providing plenty of energy to dig out what needs to be dug out, whatever it might be. Venus has moved into Gemini and is unaspected, making her strong in that venue, which should bring some luck your way in data gathering.  

OTHER COSMIC EVENTS

This month Mercury stations direct while Saturn and Pluto station retrograde. As goofed up as the lunations were the first three months of this year, January (with the exception of New Years Day when Uranus stationed direct) and February had no retrograde planets, which was a bit unusual. Now they're upon us again, however. This is not to say that retrograde planets are all a bad thing. It behooves us to stop and internalize things from time to time, which the cosmos assures. Even Mercury retrograde, as annoying as it can be, serves a useful purpose and can be used to advantage with repairs, revising, editing, rethinking, and so forth. Mercury stations direct 15 April about 16 hours before the New Moon. Thus, the charts are virtually the same, other than the position of the Moon, which is squaring Mars. This implies an emotional block as far as doing something you should probably do. Fortunately, it won't last long, and is out of orb once the New Moon comes along. Since timing is everything, this probably isn't anything to be concerned about, especially since for those of us in the USA this occurs during the wee hours of the night. If your birthday is right around August 28, Mercury stations direct quincunx your natal Sun from your 8th house of transformations, death and rebirth, sex, debt, and shared resources. A quincunx calls for a change of course or adjustment, which in this house can have life-changing implications. Anything you've been pondering, reconsidering, or rethinking the past few weeks should now become more clear with regard to anything you should do about it. This could be major or one of those things that doesn't seem like a big deal, yet over time makes a tremendous difference in your life as one of those forks in the road that doesn't seem that important at the time.

Saturn stations retrograde a few days later on 17 April. Saturn retrograde is notorious for delays and obstacles, but in the Universe's infinite wisdom, this usually means it's time to rework and rebuild something that isn't quite right or needs improvement. Saturn is in Capricorn, the sign he rules where he's in dignity, which should make this retrograde period productive. Capricorn rules such things as government and corporations, so this should help them take care of a few things as well. Moving forward in an inspired manner is suggested by the sextile between Mars and Neptune while that ongoing sextile between Jupiter and Pluto implies doing some serious clean-up or heading toward a major transformation of some sort. The asteroid Chiron has just slipped into Aries, which changes his energy a lot versus when he was in Pisces. At that time, compassion and understanding with regard to disappointments and hurts you've suffered were encouraged, though it was also easy to feel like a martyr. In Aries, Chiron will not be quite so humble, but perhaps more likely to take retaliatory action, which isn't a whole lot better. See if your reaction when things don't go your way shift versus the way they've been. The Triangle of Potential between Venus, Pluto, and Jupiter implies transformation and resolving old issues are good areas to address at this time. Uranus and the Sun are conjunct, implying its time to break away from those things that have been holding you back, especially if they involve procrastinating some changes that need to occur. If your birthday is right around September 2, this station trines your natal Sun from your 5th house of creativity, ego definition (or how you see yourself), children, romance, entertainment, and speculation. Saturn RX hints at rebuilding or restructuring, though what this might be may not be apparent at this time. This will be be processing at the subconscious level over the next few months with a clear picture of what this might be coming your way slightly after your birthday and solar return.

Pluto stations retrograde on 22 April, also in the sign of Capricorn. Pluto, the cosmic roto-rooter as noted earlier, will be busy exposing corruption and bringing such things into the public view, as he's been doing so effectively for the past several years. Watch for new revelations from places like Wikileaks and various other sources. The sextile between Pluto and Jupiter is in effect for this event as well, and will further prolong this sextile that suggests resolving past issues, getting in touch with your true self, stripped of all facades, and discovering who you are and what your passion in life is. Neptune is helping with some inspiration and insights. Considering Chiron moving into Aries, perhaps if you've been feeling defeated and discouraged about past failures or obstacles, now you'll put on your warrior gear and do battle with what's holding you back. Just be sure you are patient and not too eager to take action, because there is some psychological processing and assimilation that needs to happen before you can be effective, especially with Saturn doing the backstroke as well. The Moon is in emotional Cancer for this station and while her sextile to Venus implies some emotional support, her square to Uranus implies there could be suppressed anger that's wanting to come out. Make sure you think it through carefully, then express it in a positive manner so as not to burn any bridges you may need to cross later. If your birthday is right around September 14, Pluto stations retrograde trining your natal Sun from your 5th house, as defined above. Pluto's function is to eliminate anything you no longer need and transform your life to new levels. Virgos are critical by nature, and are often extremely self-critical as well. If you can't do something perfectly, you don't even attempt it. This can be very self-limiting. You are undoubtedly smarter and more competent than you give yourself credit for. If there's something you want to do with your life but you've lacked confidence, now is the time to work on throwing caution to the wind and deciding to go for it. You currently have three malefic planets in this house (Saturn, Mars, and Pluto) so you can expect some significant things to occur in this part of your life over the next several months and even years.
